Productive Forestry Planting in County Durham
Hot on the heels of our amenity tree planting in Sunderland, the very next week we found ourselves in County Durham, with the very last planting project possible before Summer arrived. A delayed forestry planting project- including a total of 180,000 coniferous and deciduous bare-rooted trees needed to be planted.
We were able to commit the team to this for 3 days per week, for 4 weeks; juggling the project with our other commitments; yet, in this time we were able to get 39,725 trees into the ground. At times this was a challenge, as the seasons marched on, the weather became warmer with ever more sun- which baked the ground, making planting a real challenge at times.
Special care was taken of the trees, with steps taken to ensure they remained as healthy as possible before planting; upon planting, they also benefitted from the addition of water retention granules at the root, to ensure they had the best chance of survival. Our thanks go to Peter and the team at Microsite, who brought us in as sub-contractors to get the site completed by the end May.
